Lucy Papachristou covers Russia and CIS countries for Reuters in London

Lucy Papachristou and Kate McCleod at the OPC Foundation Scholar Awards in 2023.

Lucy Papachristou is three months into a new role as a breaking news correspondent covering Russia and CIS countries for Reuters, based in London. A lot has happened in a short time on her beat: the death of Alexei Navalny, Vladimir Putin's election win, and the biggest terrorist attack in Russia in decades. Otherwise, her reporting has followed how ordinary people are swept up in the Kremlin's crackdown on dissent, court trials of major opposition figures and Russia's bid to censor the internet.

Lucy won OPC Foundation Scholarship in 2023 with a Reuters Fellowship in Gdanks, Poland.
