Past OPC Foundation Scholar Award Winners
2025
On March 5, 2025, the Overseas Press Club Foundation hosted its Scholar Awards at Salesforce in New York City. Journalists, friends and family gathered to celebrate the 18 journalism students selected by judges as among the best of their generation. As a powerful storm raged outside, symbolic of the challenging times facing journalism, the evening also marked the debut of the Rob Urban Award for reporting in Central and Eastern Europe.
2024
The Overseas Press Club Foundation returned to the Ford Foundation for Social Justice on March 5, 2024 to celebrate the new Scholar Award winners. The Foundation was able to find fellowship placements for a record number of 11 out of the 18 winners this year to newsrooms around the world.
2023
On March 1, 2023, the Overseas Press Club Foundation hosted its Scholar Awards for the first time in-person since 2020. OPC members and friends gathered to celebrate the 18 journalists chosen by judges to be among the best of their generation. This year, in a special ceremony, the OPC Foundation awarded the first Seymour and Audrey Topping Scholarship.
2022
On May 11, 2022, in a live online program, the OPC Foundation celebrated 17 journalists chosen by judges as among the best of their generation.
2021
On April 8, 2021, the OPC Foundation held its 30th Annual Scholar Awards virtually. 17 award recipients had prepared a video presentation the event also included a panel with past winners who discussed their own careers and paths forward for global journalism.
