Reporting Across Europe and Eurasia: An Update from Madeleine Long

Here is the latest update from Madeleine Long, OPC Foundation Irene Corbally Kuhn Scholar Award recipient in 2023:

Since the beginning of 2025, I’ve been working at Transitions, an online magazine that covers Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe, Turkey, and Eurasia. I started out as an editorial intern and moved into the role of assistant editor in August. My reporting has taken me from Prague, covering Czech popular sentiment to the war in Ukraine, to Istanbul, where I interviewed student protestors in the wake of the arrest of Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu. In addition to producing feature stories, I now oversee our intern cohort and edit articles.
