Where Are They Now: Brett Simpson

OPC Foundation Scholar 2021 Brett Simpson has spent the past two years reporting from the Arctic as an Institute of Current World Affairs fellow based in Tromsø, Norway.

This winter, Brett reported on Arctic geopolitics and climate issues for The Atlantic and recently spoke at the International Journalism Festival in Perugia, Italy, where she highlighted the importance of continued climate reporting amid growing attention to AI.

As her fellowship concludes this summer, Brett plans to return to Berlin while continuing to pursue stories from the Arctic. We're proud to see our alumni bringing thoughtful, on-the-ground reporting from one of the world's most strategically important regions.
