OPC Foundation Scholar 2021 Diana Kruzman recently moved to Amman, Jordan to begin a two-year fellowship with the Institute of Current World Affairs. Diana plans to divide her time between Jordan, Egypt and Lebanon, where she will focus on how societies around the Middle East are adapting to and surviving through multiple and intertwined crises.
Diana's project aims to reach beyond the daily headlines to highlight deeper historical and political context in a region experiencing immense upheaval. So far, she has written about economic solidarity in Jordan and grassroots responses to conflict in Lebanon.
Prior to starting her fellowship, Diana spent several years as a freelancer focusing on the intersection of the environment and geopolitics, with bylines in The Baffler, The Nation, The Intercept, Jewish Currents, Foreign Policy, New Lines Magazine, MIT Technology Review, and others. She was awarded OPC Foundation Rukeyser Reporting Grant in 2024.
