Mark Banchereau has joined the Associated Press staff as a West and Central Africa reporter. He has been reporting from the region since 2024, when he won the OPC Foundation's Richard Pyle Scholar Award and moved to Dakar as an OPC Foundation fellow working for the Associated Press.
